Ball’s dry, offset-printing process can print up to six colors. We also offer a fast, seven-to-ten day turnaround on new "camera ready" artwork and revised graphics.

Winners of the International Metal Decorators Association (IMDA) Awards of Excellence year after year for outstanding graphics and printing on cans, our artwork development department is available to assist our customers with the development of new graphics.

Advanced graphics capabilities for cans include:

• Wet-on-wet process where one ink is applied wet over another ink, resulting in another color and enabling a can to hold several colors while utilizing only four to six printing plates
• Fluorescent ink graphics that glow when "black light" or UV light hits the steel can (Under development)
• Exceptional screening techniques
• Onsite Pilot Press at BTIC
• Retort capable up to 265°F (130°C)

Graphics Proofing

Ball uses two decorators at its innovation center in Westminster, Colo., for beverage can graphics proofing, and in the past year alone has worked with customers to proof graphics for hundreds of new labels. The recent addition of a new, state-of-the-art decorator has doubled Ball’s capacity for graphics proofing and provides the flexibility to decorate a broader range of can sizes, from 5.5-oz. to 16-oz., as well as Alumi-Tek^® bottles.
